WICKED!!!

Posted by Kimmi:

What a wonderful weekend in Salt Lake City, thank you Megan for making it all happen! Because of Megan, we were able to get Wicked tickets. So Mark and I planned a weekend trip full of good food, great friends and fun.

We started off the weekend by stopping in Layton to have dinner at the Olive Garden with my dad. It was very nice to see him and catch up with him. On Saturday, we just did some running around SLC. Then headed home to get all prettied up for the show. We met our friends the Bischoff's and the Asper's at the Cheesecake Factory where we had an amazing meal and stuffed ourselves silly. Then it was off to Wicked, where we got to walk the "yellow brick road" crosswalk, and see all the flashing lights and signs.

The show was absolutely amazing! Mark and I didn't know anything about the show other than it had the two witches in it. I didn't know what to expect, but I was very excited because I had heard so many good things about it. I was blown away! The stage was so fun to look at, and the characters were so quirky and interesting. Glinda was hilarious in everything she said, and Elphiba had a fantasmic voice!!! I definitely need the sound track now! I think we all went home in a splendid wonderment. Oh, and home to cheesecake!

The next morning we were slackers and skipped church for homemade scones and cranium games (we were on vacation!!!) All in all it was a wonderful weekend. Thanks to the Bischoff's and Asper's for hanging out with us and making it even better!!

Here we all are at the Cheesecake Factory enjoying some great food. Kimmi and I both love the Cheesecake Factory and could eat there often if it wasn't so far away and for the fact that it would make me really fat!

Outside the theater. It was cool that so many people dressed up in their best to come see a show.

Waiting for the show to start, I occupied myself with Dan's iphone. Needless to say I want one! I don't see how I could ever be bored again with one of these little gems of modern technology in my pocket. If anyone wants to donate towards the "Mark needs an iphone" fund please let me know and I'll get you my address to mail a check.

Isn't she cute?!

The theater was very adamant in telling everyone that they were in no way allowed to take photos before or while the show was in progress. In fact, a friend of ours at a previous showing was supervised and forced to delete photos off her camera when she had taken some photos of the set. Well.... if there is one thing that gets me more motivated to act it's to tell me that I CAN'T do something. I took it upon myself with strict diligence to make sure to take some photos of the performance just in spite. And here you go! Not the best photo in the world but hey it was satisfying all the same.

I have to say that even though the performance was extremely hyped up in my mind from constant and numerous people telling us how fantastic of a musical it is, I still enjoyed myself greatly and found the show to be extremely fun and entertaining. What made it better were some great friends and a great wife.

We were there that weekend for the race. We went to dinner at the olive garden accross the street from the theatre Wicked was playing at. It looked like so much fun. Probably more fun then running was :(
