How can life continue!!

Posted by Mark:

Well it's official.... my lawnmower is dead. I have given up all hope in fixing the thing and returning it to its former glory. After many hours of diagnosis and surgery, taking it apart and putting it back together again...in the end I can't quite figure out why its spewing oil from somewhere and everywhere.

To tell you the truth, I thought I was making head way. As most of you know I consider myself a somewhat handy person (to certain extents) and last evening after finishing mowing the front lawn I thought I'd take the mower apart and see why after shutting off the mower it leaked gas constantly through the carburetor until the gas tank was empty. I didn't have any epiphanies as to the issue while the mower lay in pieces on the garage floor, but I concluded that if I somehow found a small valve and inserted it on the fuel line I would be able to shut off the gas after i was done mowing, in short solving the problem and stopping the constant drip and waist of fuel.

So after work tonight I wandered around Lowes and then Home Depot hoping to find a small enough valve. After finally finding an adequate valve at Home Depot I went home to implement my plan. With great joy it went on without a hitch, foolishly I started to think I was a genius and that I had found my new calling in life, fixing mowers. Alas when I started it and it ran for a while I began to notice oil flowing out from somewhere that I couldn't seam to find. I decided it's pointless to continue. Plus my head was starting to hurt again from all the gas fumes so I threw in the towel and gave up. Sorry that is probably way more info about lawn mowers then you ever wanted to read, but hey I had to tell someone right? Below are some pictures of the carnage in the end. Hopefully I can find a replacement soon because my back yard needs to be mowed!

-The oil pools I found under and in front of the Mower after it ran for a while (that can't be good)

-The pool of oil forming around the base of the engine (not a good sign)

-once again I found a puddle of oil forming under the mower
(the craftsman has flat lined)

You should just throw in the towel for it all and move back to Utah! Tim will mow your lawn here! What a fabulous idea!
