Memorial Day Weekend

Posted by Mark:

Well, it's been a week now, but I thought I'd still post about the fun Memorial Day weekend Kimmi and I had. I was fortunate enough to get the day off, so Saturday night Kimmi and I decided to take a spur of the moment trip down to SLC. It was actually a pretty nice change from our typical trips to Salt Lake because for once we didn't really have anything planned. We just kind of winged it.

So here's what we did: We made the fun filled three hour drive as soon as we got out of church (well not before I took a mini snooze...whats Sunday without a nap!) So I laid down for half hour while Kimmi finished packing (Kimmi is hands down the best trip prep expert on earth.. in fact because of her fabulous packing skills I have lost all skills in that department what so ever. When I pack for trips now I forget all kinds of stuff and I've turned into my dad where my idea of a day bag is a cardboard box). Anyway, when we got to SLC we chilled out with Kimmi's folks for a bit. Ken was kind enough to make me his famous chicken salad sandwiches along with oodles extra for me to take home. In fact he made so much that I've been able to eat one every day since. I just finished the last one tonight for dinner...so so sad... what am I going to eat this week!

After our late lunch we went over to my grandparents house to hang out before we decided on heading up to my family's place in Midway, Utah to sleep there. We took the movie Curious Case of Ben Button. Pretty good flick, but quite long. I don't think we got to bed till 3am or so. Therefore, we slept in for a bit, made breakfast and hurried down to Park City to meet up with some friends at the Outlets.

A few photos from our time in Park City:

Main street in Park City. We had lunch at a quaint little pizza joint then walked up and down the drag looking into all the over priced boutiques.

We then decided to go take a run on the Alpine Slide! Man that was fun times! I hadn't ridden the Alpine Slide for probably 10 years or so. Here are Kimmi and I walking to the Slide from the Ski Lift. I know what you're all saying... "Isn't this picture precious!" and the answer is yes...yes it is....

Here we are at the bottom of a fun run down the mountain. As you can see Kimmi is actually smiling which is a big difference apparently from the last time she came down the Alpine Slide a few years back. Last time the punk boy she was on a date with thought it would be funny to run into the back of her sled at the bottom of the hill and it gave Kimmi whiplash. What a looser! I'm glad she dumped that bozo and married me instead!

Here are our fun friends that were nice enough to let us come hang out with them. Thanks Ashley and Heidi! (Tim and Tim are way in the back...just lean in really close to your computer...)

This is our friend Tim (again lean in close!) and I don't know if you can tell but yes, he has a mustache and no, it's NOT a joke. It's mustache May people! And he'd appreciate a little tact and respect in the matter!

All in all it was a fun trip as they usually are. We were lucky too because it was a beautiful weekend weather wise. We're happy we went.

How fun! Sounds much more fun than our hard working weekend. All in all it turned out nice to have help from my parents! I'm excited to be in Heber this week! Maybe we can do the alpine slide. I don't recall ever doing it. Should be fun times!

I'm proud to say that I'm the one who took that oh so precious picture! What talent and grace I have! You should bow down and worship the ground I walk on for providing such a picture of the two of you. I'm so glad you guys came down for your quick trip and that the day involved us! We love you guys! But seriously, you should pay me for that picture!

It sounds like you had a great weekend! I'm sad we missed you. We rented a condo in Park City for the weekend, went shopping at the outlets, checked out the over priced stores on main street, and rode the zip line (instead of the alpine slide). We were crossing paths all weekend long. If it is mustache May where is Mark's stash?
