Ahhh the slippery slopes of... the slopes

Not to much going on in our little lives but since it's been so long since we posted anything I thought I'd write about my weekend.

I was chatting with a friend of mine on Facebook the other week when he informed me that with his season pass to the Canyons he gets a few complimentary guest passes. When he offered me one I did what any self respecting person would do and accepted!

This was my first time to the Canyons and I'm happy to say I was quite impressed. The place is absolutely gigantic so I rarely had to wait in a lift line since everyone was so spread out. They also had this new lift called the Orange bubble express. It's exactly as the name says, you sit on your normal chair lift but not only can you lower the little gate that prevents you from falling to your painful death but you can lower this plastic orange bubble that protects you from the elements. The best part about this lift though? Heated seats! absolutely amazing. How quickly though I become accustomed to the finer things in life. no sooner did I ride the Orange Bubble express, I rode another normal quad chair lift and said "why doesn't this one have headed seats?! This lift sucks!!" It reminded me of a comedians skit I once saw on Conan:

Anyway it was a great day of skiing, Perfect conditions, I forgot sun-block so I now look like a raccoon with my goggle outline on my face. I look so ridiculous that yesterday I almost called into church sick so I didn't have to sit on the stand where everyone could see me and snicker. Oh well, I just had to explain my weekend activities to lots and lots of people.

My friend was nice too, in that since he's been skiing like 20 times already this season he asked what kinds of ski runs I liked so he could make sure to take me to as many of those as possible. For me the best runs are the ones that are as groomed and steep. The steeper the better in my opinion (big surprise) I love to go fast! For me there is nothing more exhilarating than crouching down and going so fast your eyes start to vibrate with every little bump in the hill and when the most gradual turn requires serious work to fight the G-forces trying to pull you down. LOVE IT! I need to borrow a GPS unit more often to track my speed but, to brag, my fastest recorded speed is 101 MPH at Snowbird back a few years ago when my brother brought his GPS unit to see who could go the fastest. (I won....I think I should probably invest in a helmet too..)

Anyway It was an excellent way to spend a Saturday. If anyone else has a free ski pass that they'd like to donate to me I'd be happy to take it off your hands.

I remember that ski trip, I can vouch for the incredible speed as I saw it with my own eyes! A helmet would be nice. I'll start your helmet donation at $1.00! Do you take quarters??
