Today's realization

So I had a realization today at lunch and it got me REALLY EXCITED….

It’s just about rodeo season!



I’m not really sure why I love going to rodeos so much…. I just do…. And surprisingly I know a lot about the events and how they’re scored. Bull riding is of course my favorite event (it’s everyone’s favorite) but a close second is calf & steer wrestling. Nothing seems quite so unnatural as jumping off a speeding horse in order to grab a young bull by the horns and wrench his neck until he falls to the ground.

Now by far my favorite rodeos are the ones in the small towns like Oakley, Morgan, or Heber. I find it fun to pull out my cowboy boots, big belt buckle, and cowboy hat in order to dress the part and look like a local. At the same time I find it odd that I like rodeos so much because I’ve got quite a problem with hay fever. But this also might explain why I’m so fond of the small town open air rodeos. I don’t get bothered that much by the dust when it’s got room to dissipate. It’s a whole different story with the big rodeos indoors at the Delta Center…..at those my nose gets clogged and I sneeze the whole time…. But in thinking about it that could have been because when we’d go to the big days of ’47 rodeo growing up, we’d go with my grandpa and we’d always be in the first few rows with all the dust and animals that so kindly raked havoc on my histamines.

Anyway, yeah I just wanted to voice my excitement. After lunch I went straight online and looked up all of the greater Salt Lake City rodeos and imputed the dates into my phone’s calendar so all this summer if the mood ever crosses my mind I’m ready to go and I know where to go.

……………I’m not exactly sure how excited Kimmi will be by this……………
