Organization

Posted by Mark:

Now that all my attention isn't focused 100% on a kitchen I finally get to branch out and take care of a few projects that have been festering in the back of my mind. One of which was the disorganization of my office, which doubles as my closet Specifically I was tired of my pile of shoes as seen below.

To fix my little problem I grabbed a piece of paper and drew a picture of what I wanted. After two nights, a sheet of partical board, 1/4 bottle of wood glue, and my trusty finishing nailer this is what transpired. Yeah for organization!!!

The Kitchen is done!

Kimmi and I are both of the belief that we are gluttons for punishment, for this actually is our second kitchen remodel. We redid the kitchen in our house up in Twin Falls but only got to enjoy it for two weeks before we sold the house and moved back to Salt Lake. That being the case, when we bought our place here in Bountiful we determined that the first project we would tackle this go around would be the kitchen so that we could enjoy this one a bit longer (many many years longer hopefully).

Anyway I am pleased to announce that after 10 long months and a lot of nights and weekends we are 100% done! And per our customary tradition upon completing a project I'd like to show off some before and after pictures.

Before:

After: We didn't keep a single thing from the old kitchen...just the layout.

I had a LOT of pictures I wanted to post about the kitchen's progress from start to finish but because of how many there are we thought it would be easier to just have a slide show. Enjoy. Oh and thanks to everyone's help (you know who you are) You know you've got good friends when they come help you with this kind of stuff.

2010 in Review

2010 brought a lot of changes and new experiences for our family. Our biggest and most prominent news being the birth of our son, Spencer. He was welcomed into our family with many open arms and is totally spoiled and loved by everyone. Spencer is now 13 weeks old and growing by the minute. We laugh at how chunky he is getting, but love that we can tell he is happy and healthy! He is a very content, laid back little guy who is happy to lounge on your lap, in your arms, on a blanket, in the car seat, etc. He is so smiley in the mornings and is even starting to giggle a bit. He is getting better at his conversations with mom and dad and seems fascinated when we talk back to him. Spencer is doing really well with his parents both back to work and loves hanging out with Grandma Linda. He is on a great schedule and is sleeping through the night most nights (lets hope this post doesn't jinks me!). We really love having the little guy around! He is such a blessing and brings so much enjoyment to our lives.

Next on our list of news is the selling of our house in Twin Falls, Idaho and the big purchase of our new home in Bountiful! We LOVE our new house and all the awesome improvements we have made and will be making in the near future. What have we done? The nursery, the laundry room, and the kitchen! Pictures will come around soon I am sure. And what is to come?? Everything else! The family room, office, master bedroom, bathrooms, and the entire basement. Oh, the excitement! Its a massive job, but we look forward to making this house exactly how we want it. The plans are all in my head, we just need to execute them.

Like I said, I am back to work and trying to figure out the balance of work life and home life. Wish me luck. But we are lucky to have my mom as a fantastic babysitter for Spencer! We couldn't ask for anything better. Mark is still working for the church, but in a new position. He is enjoying the change, but is busy all day! No more wasting time on the phone with me!

We are excited to see what 2011 will bring for us. These first 13 days seem ok and we can only hope more days get better!

Two Month Check Up

Spencer's stats as of Dec 14th!
Length: 24 1/2 inches, 90%
Weight: 12.5 pounds, 75%

Spencer's weight as of Jan 1st: 14.5 pounds!

We really can't believe how much he is growing each day! He is definitely becoming a little boy. He has started cooing this week and his smile has become more prominent throughout the day. He also giggled the other day while playing with Mark. It was possibly the cutest thing I have ever seen! We really love watching him grow and are blown away each week with all the new things Spencer does!

Spencer's Blessing Day

Spencer was blessed on December 5th by his dad, who did a wonderful job! The Spirit definitely filled the room as soon as Mark started. Spencer was very content while in the circle and throughout the rest of the day while being passed from person to person. He was a lucky little boy to be surrounded by so many friends and family. He is so loved! Thank you so much to everyone who made the trip to Bountiful to be with us on this special day!

Spencer...

We were lucky to have Spencer's newborn pictures taken by Dan and Carrie when he was just six days old. He is so adorable that we have hundreds of pictures to choose from. Here are just a few of our favorites! Enjoy!
