Easter 2012

Posted by Mark

So Easter was a few weeks ago. I've taken a while to make this post because I was trying to find a picture from Kimmi's Easter past that looked quite similar to one of the pictures we took of Spencer. Since we were unable to find it, you and I will just have to live without it. Oh well.

Anyway, we had a fun family filled weekend. Saturday we went up to my uncle Bruce's house, who is a fellow resident of Bountiful. Of course he was here first and I have found it quite interesting how many people knows his family. I've always grown up and been quite familiar with the following conversation with strangers. "Mark Dibb? are you related to Ann Dibb and President Monson?" But since moving to Bountiful I have almost always had this conversation instead. "Mark Dibb? are you related to Bruce and Coleen Dibb?"  It's a nice change from the status quo.

Bruce and Coleen have a literal gaggle of children and at Easter they always have an Easter egg hunt. Due to the number of people there they have to hide A LOT of eggs. I think they said they hid 300 or something. each egg has the standard piece of candy but it also has a small denomination of coins! Thankfully to avoid pandemonium, rules are set out and each kid is only allowed 10-15 eggs. Also, children under the age of 2 are allowed to head out on the hunt first. I'll be honest in saying that I didn't think Spencer would be that into Easter Egg hunting. But I was surprisingly wrong in this thought. Spencer LOVED it as displayed in this picture:

Spencer found his designated 15 eggs and walked away with $1.10 of my uncles hard earned cash. We promptly put this into his piggy bank/mission fund. Spencer so much enjoyed Easter egg hunting we went home and would hide eggs around the living room, then have Spencer go find them all, repeating the  process every 20 minutes. He thought it was fabulous.

Sunday we went to Kimmi's grandparents for a BBQ and another Easter egg hunt. Kimmis Parents set up a hunt for Spencer with eggs filled with his favorite toddler snacks. and then there was the customary adult Easter egg hung using real hard boiled eggs and having the eggs in much harder hiding spots. we found all but 1. of the 5 dozen hidden. Below are a few more pictures from the weekend. Odd how on Saturday we were hunting for eggs in the snow and on Sunday we were laying and playing in the grass. Good old Utah weather.

Spencer's haul. Amazing how much more he gets when he doesn't have to compete with other children

Partaking of the egg's bounty.

I entertained myself by chasing around Kimmi's Sister Lindsey's little dog. I swear that thing is part rabbit cause it was fast and SHIFTY! made for some great fun.

My cute wife
 My cute son.

Great post. One question. Why were you chasing a dog? Seems like a unusual/cruel/state fair type game.

Oh Spencer! Such a cute boy :). I just love him! I'm quite pleased I snatched him up to be Emmy's betrothed before anyone else beat us to it. One day...our kids are gonna be so in love!
p.s. I agree with Alan...chasing a dog is terrible! You should be fined thousands of dollars for your cruelty. But I should expect you to pick on things not your own size Mark...jerk!
